    this is mysterious.

yesterday i noticed that my right-click menu in msie is now in russian (or german not sure but that's besides the point). it's also changed some of the menus in windows explorer. so far i've only found the change to the pop up menus in msie and explorer. outlooks express and my other windows programs seem to be unaffected.

i tried changing the language settings in msie, that hasn't helped.

i haven't downloaded any new lanuage packs for msie or windows.

    i'm using windows 98se and msie 6

Not German or Russian. Some Scandinavian language. As you said though, no matter.

At this point all I could suggest is some fairly general (but often helpful) things.
    - Online virus scan with RAV in case something snuck by your onboard AV and disabled it.
    - Dump all your IE TIF content.
    - Repair IE.
    - From a DOS boot
    scanreg /fix
    scanreg /opt
    scandisk /autofix /nosave /surface

fixing the registery didn't work.. so last ditch effort i uninstalled msie and reinstalled. everything is fixed now.

thank you newt for suggesting RAV though. it found a few infected files on my system that no other virus scanner detected. :)

Glad to hear it is fixed. No telling exactly what broke in the first place.
