I have two computers: XP Pro desktop and Win ME desktop connected on an ethernet LAN via a router. I have shared a folder on the XP computer giving EVERYONE Full Access rights.

For reasons unknown, I am not able to access the XP desktop computer from the Win ME computer. Instead, I get a password requester on the Win98 screen, stating:

You must supply a password to make this connection:

    Resource: \\XPWORK\IPC$

I understand that IPC$ is an administrative share. No password has ever been used in the past and XPWORK is the name of the XP desktop computer.
I can connect to another XP computer across the same LAN with no problem using this same Win ME computer. All computers are using the same workgroup name.

Make sure the ME system requires a logon name AND a password.

Put the ME account information (username and password) into the local users section of the XP-pro PC. Must be exact.
