Keyboard Mfg: Aopen Black Windows Keyboard
    CPU: AMD 64 3700+
    RAM: 1 G
    BIOS: Phoenix Award
    Motherboard: Mach Speed K8M8MSR2

OS: Windows XP SP 2 Home Ed.

The Problem: After resuming from Standby, the keyboard is completely dead...no lights, nothing can be input. The usb mouse is not effected. A reboot is the only fix, that works at present.

What do I need to do to fix this annoying thing?

    Thanks.

Look in Device Manager->Keyboard Properties->Power Mgmt and make use "allow to bring out of standby is enabled. "

    Steve,

I looked in Device Manager > Keyboard > Standard 101/102 or Microsoft Natural PS2 Keyboard > Propertise

There isn't a Power Management tab, or button. The only things provided are General, Drivers, Resources, and Description.

So where do we go from here?

    Try the following.

    Windows XP USB Guide

This could also be caused by not being fully updated.

Sorry I should have mentioned that the keyboard is a PS2 not USB. Only the mouse is USB and it's working fine.

Check that the keyboard is plugged into the correct ps2 socket; they're not interchangeable. It's generally the one closest to the side of the case on a tower, but check your manual.

If no joy, try the uninstall button when you rt-click in device manager and reboot using the mouse. XP should reinstall the keyboard at boot with the proper drivers. You shouldn't need any proprietary/special drivers.

"allow to bring out of standby is enabled." is not available in my Home ed.
