I have been having the same problem since I installed a new hard drive (Windows 98SE). Definitely not the keyboard as I can use the same keyboard on another pc (Windows XP) and no problem. I have to use Shift 2 to get the '@' sign. I'm using a Belkin wireless keyboard and mouse with a kvm switch, but I've been using this for months without any problems. Any help?

attackofbobs & Lesru - Welcome to the Board :)

You both have the keyboard set to the US key pattern which is the default when installing XP.

In Control Panel go to Regional and Language Options > Languages tab > Details and add the UK - or the appropriate keyboard for your location and remove the US keyboard.

Isn't shift 2 (upper case 2) the only way to get the @ sign or am I missing something?

    Not in the UK :D

Shift + 2 gives you " on a UK keyboard, @ on a US keyboard
