I have a Dell 2400 with Windows XP.

When I turn the computer on I receive an error "Keyboard Controller Failure "- Strike F1 Key to Continie-F2 Key to run the setup utility.

It also says error 8602 auxilary devise failure.

I am unable to get out of this mode regardless of what key I strike and therefore cannot use the computer

    Thank you

Hi Jerry Dunn. Have you tried using a different keyboard with the computer? If you can, try going into the BIOS and setting them back to defaults. Also I would remove all external devices such as printers, scanners, cameras, etc. and only leave the essential devices plugged in. (Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet, Power, Sound). Also if you are experiencing this issue and you have a PS/2 keyboard try getting a USB keyboard and plugging it in instead. If you have a USB keyboard try plugging it into different USB ports and see if it makes any difference. Also the 8602 auxilary devise failure relates to a mouse issue. I would also change the mouse and see if there is any change. There is also a possibility that you have a failing harddrive or a failing motherboard.

To get into BIOS you have to press a certain keyboard key such as F2, F12 or the Delete Key.
