Keyboard Keys Incorrect.

I run Windows XP with Microsoft Keyboard (5VDC)
Due to corrupt files I reinstalled Windows Xp and all updates.
A problem with the keyboard has resulted as follows.
When I press for " I get@
" " " @ I get "
similarly pressing for~ gives me |
to get the tilde ~ I have to press the key above Tab to the left of 1

I have removed the current keyboard driver in Device Manager and rebooted to let windows load driver. The result of this was-No solution- the keyboard was same as before.
If anyone is aware of a solution I would be grateful.

On checking it was English USA. I changed this to UK, reset the drivers when requested and am glad to say all is now OK.
You can chalk up another success.
