Too frequently (about 1 time in 20) my Keyboard doesn't 'turn-on' at computer boot-up. (Now twice in four days!) Most of time, re-booting computer 'turns on' the keyboard immediately. Today I had to re-boot twice!

This is frustrating and time consuming. My 'old' computer takes 2 min to shut down and another 5 to 6 min to re-boot. Is there some way to 'turn-on' my Keyboard without re-booting?? The Control Panel 'keyboard' selection is of No help!

Why does this 'annoyance' even happen? Can I prevent it's occurance?? My keyboard is Not a USB device. Much more rarely, sometimes my Mouse doesn't 'turn-on' until re-boot!

    Any helpful ideas?? Thanks! Dale

Dale Heath-- "Sometimes" problems are the hardest.
Have you checked the Keyboard's connections? Or the cord could be frayed somewhere.
    Have you tried another keyboard?
You say the mouse is doing the same thing? Have you tried another mouse?
Are you getting any error messages?
Have you looked into MyComputer|Hardware tab|Device Manager|right click Keyboard (and Mouse)|Properties. Does it say "Device is working properly "?
Did this start recently? If so, you could try a System Restore, but I suspect hardware rather than software.

One of my four office pc's does this a couple times a month. I don't think there is a solution. The computer and the operating system have to do tens of thousands of things everytime you boot up.
