Using a PS2 keyboard w/ an adapter (PS2 to USB) on a new computer. Sometimes when I fire up, the keyboard is dead until I pull the connector and stick it into another USB port.
    How can this be?

Note: the shop said the adapter was not hot swappable. (It sure seems to be!)

If you use an adapter the BIOS might or might not be able to "see" or load the keyboard. Windows can load "plug and play" drivers.

If the BIOS does not (sometimes) recognise the keyboard, Windows might when you change the USB port.

It could be a little "hit and miss" using an adapter.

Thx Matt. I had no idea - kind of a bummer.
