    i have had a problem with kb908531 the same as several people have judging by the threads, but this update keeps coming back in the updates, can this be stopped.

    keithsince59--Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs. Make sure "Show Updates" at the top is checked. Then look near the bottom (under Windows XP-Software Updates" for "Security Update for Windows XP (KB908531) ". Click to highlight. Then click Remove.
    When finished, probably a reboot will not hurt.
    Then download and reinstall this update.

    The latest version is probably newer than the one you have.

    Microsoft fixed the problem with the original update, and systems that would have the software installed that has been determined to be the cause of the original problems will get prompted to install the updated update :cool:
