Is there a reason for KB4589212 getting installed on an AMD-based system? Am I missing something?

Need I say that it was not a recommendation, it was installed without my consent. All other updates of this month had been installed and the computer restarted. After a while I was notified about a waiting restart. I wondered why and when I checked after the restart, this update had been installed. If I had a choice it would not have been!

I repeat my question, am I missing something?

Now my LapTop notified me about a waiting restart. Guess what!

Yes, I too have done a quick search and found the same answer.

There has been a change since it states "rolling out mandatory Windows 10 KB4589212 update again" and I didn't get it the previous time(s). In the past, Microsoft have been able to differentiate between Intel/AMD but regrettably no longer.

    I quote from TenForums KB4589212 Intel Microcode Updates Windows 10 v2004 and v20H2 - March 9:

Too bad Microsoft are getting sloppy or is it something that we must accept because it makes it easier for MS?

I can't help wondering whether that´s really the case or not. Since the update was installed, I've had the occasional blue screen "System Thread Exception Not Handled" with reference to "fileinfo.sys".

The blue screens occur on the DeskTop (an upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro) but not on the LapTop (an original Windows 10 Home installation).

One final note, I checked in Control Panel > Programs and Features > for installed updates and I found "Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.860". It had been installed on March 09 (not possible to uninstall) with the batch of Windows 10 updates. KB4589212 had been installed the day after, March 10 (possible to uninstall). It seems like this happened late in the evening of March 09, late enough to turn into March 10.

I understand the difference between an update and a servicing stack but still wonder if any of these "items", installed on March 09-10, has anything to do with the occasional blue screens? Nothing else has changed!
