I just installed Windows 10 and then checked for updates under settings.
It has stalled at KB3106246. It won't go any further. It just says preparing to install updates 77%. The other update listed is a definition update for windows defender. What should I do at this point?

Update: the whole OS got stuck. I managed to do a restart but it is now stuck on working on updates 16% complete. Don't turn off your computer.

Hi Alicia 3, If the Restart didn't fix it - a normal shut down is the next option.
Leave the comp for about a couple of minutes then Start up again. Neil.

Ok I got it started again. Now what do I do about the updates that won't install? Try again? I got the code 0x800705b4

I checked the update history and it shows an old powerpoint 2007 update failed to install and the KB 3106246 did. It's going to keep trying isn't it?

The recommendation from MS is to Restart comp and if that doesn't work, do the full shut down and wait, then boot again.
There are obviously hiccups occurring with the installs. Neil.
