Does anyone know why the update KB2964358 is not checked by default? Luckily I managed to read about this important update and manually checked for updates, but it was not ticked by default. If I had relied on automatic updates to protect me it would not have been downloaded or installed. Considering this is supposed to patch an important vulnerability in IE, I am surprised by this.

Hi templar, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

I don't know why the update wasn't checked by default either. I installed it on two computers and both times I had to check the update and then allow Windows Update to install it before rebooting the machines.

Hi templar, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) I just had a look in my XP SP3 comp after reading Arie's alert.
Mine was set to Auto Update and it was checked on the radio button to Express Instal. I did a Custom instal just to confirm it was the KB2964358 that Arie referred to in his Alert. Neil.

I decided to install it manually just to be safe. Just seems strange that if I left it up to Automatic updates it would not have installed. Unless, of course MS are slowly releasing it, and that it would have become checked by default over time.
