    Yes you should.

Then get Kazaa Lite that has no spy/adware!

    Here is the steps.

    Add/remove and uninstall Kazaa!

After this use search/find to find leftovers and delete them, may have to reboot to get them all.

    then

    Spyware and adware removal

    SpyBot http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download
Run this twice delete all it finds, "ALWAYS" run this before AdAware.
Leave all it wants to leave after the second run.

    AdAware 6.0 http://www.lavasoft.com
    Run only after SpyBot!
Make sure to configure to Max settings, all files and compressed files.Delete all it finds

    BHO Demon http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
A BHO is like a autostart/startup that only runs when you run the Browser.
This program runs stand alone no install is required post me the items it finds other than the below. Normal entries here would be Acro….. (Acrobat Reader) or Nav…. (Norton Anti virus).

    Then http://doa2.host.sk/
    for kazaalite

Further Info Re Kazaa Spyware removal:

    1. In the Windows Control Panel, select an option called "Add/Remove Programs." One of the options will be "b3d Projector." Highlight this and click the "Change/Remove" button.

You may get a message that the uninstall has been successful. Search your computer for a "BDE" folder, which most likely will be found in the "WinNT" or "Windows" directory. In this folder will be a file called "bdeclean.exe ". Run this to finish the first part of the process. Delete the BDE folder.

Caution: An unrelated piece of software called Borland Database Engine also creates a BDE directory. If you think you may have this software installed, or if there is any confusion whatsoever, do not delete this directory.

    2. In the "Temp" directory (this will normally be found inside the "Windows" or "WinNT" directory) is a folder called "Brilliant." This contains many files. Delete the entire folder.

    3. After performing steps 1 and 2, you will need to locate and remove some additional Brilliant Digital files that have been placed in critical system-level computer directories. CAUTION: Deleting the wrong files could interfere with the normal functioning of your computer. These files will most likely be in the "WindowsSystem" or "WinNTSystem32" folder:

    bdedownloader.dll
    bdedata2.dll
    bdefdi.dll
    bdeinsta2.dll
    bdeinstall.exe
    bdesecureinstall.cab
    bdesecureinstall.exe
    bdeverify.exe
    bdeverify.dll

    Delete these files.

    ;)

Do the SpyBot and Adaware first as it will get the Brilliant Digital.

Then look for the items in the excellent suggestion by Rockster if any are left go after them!

    Some More Info About Kazaa

I'm not sure what that last dat file is but it shouldn't effect the performance of your computer; although I'd recommend removing it.

I don't want to overstep any parental boundaries here, but in case you don't know what Kazaa is, I'm going to give you a few details.

It is a Computer To Computer shareware interface which means you download and share specified files on your computer. This means that you should have an Internet Security Program and Anti-Virus Program updated and running while using Kazaa.

In addition, Kazaa users share everything, and as far as I know there are no parental censor controls. Videos, software, photos, and music are all being shared on Kazaa and Gnucleus and other such programs.

As a parent, this means your child can download hardcore pornography as both images and movies, as well as mainstream movies that you may not find suitable as a parent.

I'm not certain if you already know this, but in case you didn't thought the information was important to know so you can make informed parental decisions.

I apologize if this seemed preachy, it wasn't meant to be.

    John,
I posted this in a previous thread.
    kaaza lite english download site
Kaaza lite to begin with has no spyware. ad-ware or troublesome popups which are built into the basic Kaaza program.
there are some other features as well.
it was written by some unknown programmer
to download the latest version in English try

for an older version (there are some advantages)

    fuller list
    : http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm

    have fun

Just out of interest some people have inadverently saved documents (some confidential) in their Kaaza "shared folder ".
Luckily though few people search the "documents ". :D
And if you use Kaaza lite don't fall for the upgrade now screen
on startup. This will just install the regular Kaaza program (with all the ads and spyware ". ;)
