    Hey,

On my win2000 professional machine I've also installed KaZaA (v1.5.1). Sometimes when looking in Task Manager my CPU Usage is 100%, after some basic troubleshooting I figured out that if I close KaZaA down cpu usage dropped to 1-10%. Memory usage seem normal. Was wondering, has anyone else had any similar problems ? Been to www.kazaa.com but there is no support page or forum or nothing. Obviously stop using the program will make the problem go away but hoping for a better solution.

Just like to add, at the moment Im running explorer, KaZaZ and Task Manager and cpu usage is at 10%, so it's not always like the above situation but when it is, my whole computer hangs up :(

yeah, i have that problem sometimes also. I THINK the problem is simply that kazaa, morpheus, grokster have SO MUCH SPYWARE attached to the installation that when you run the program, they are all starting at the same time. After a bit it will calm down. I read in one of the user opinions in download.com that when this person ran ad-aware(a anti-spyware program) his computer had zero spyware programs on it. When he installed kazaa, and ran ad-aware again, there was 77. Whether or not kazaa has that many I don't now. Uninstall any of them and kazaa won't work, I do know that, I did it.

KaZaa was pretty well up front about the spyware being part of the program, when used with a pop up killer the rotating banner will turn into the word refresh.

With regard to the number of adware items identified I only get 5 so the 77 is probably listing all the items in your cache.

As far as cpu usage, KaZaa and Morpheus have been having problems lately, partially due to the lawsuit similar to the one where the RIAA bribed the judge to rule against Napster and in favor of the people who need $20 million and are not able to get by on a lousy $19 million per year. There is also the very likely possibility that the RIAA has once again hired hackers to work outside the US and attack the site like they did during the Napster trial. Ahhh good old hardball in business, industrial sabatoge is the American way.

FYI, Kazza and Morphoeus are the same program EXCEPT Morpheous does NOT have spyware and Kazza does.

I have no problem with Kazaa.. maybe it's just me :) Or I look at the CPU usage at the wrong time.

I use Grokster; it allows you to refuse the spyware during the setup process. Was Judge Patell really bribed by the RIAA? Is there proof of this?

    Hiya

It could also mean that you have loads starting up in the background.

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Go to Actions | Save as text File, and copy/paste that way.

    Regards
