With the release of v1.4 http://www.jv16.org/ jvPT will no longer be free. There is a 30 day free trial without any limitations on the program's functionality.

    The cost is $29.95

    Regards - Charles

    Easy, Charles,
There are many other similar and just as good/better programmes available as freeware I only use the Registry Cleaner component so recommend Toni Arts EasyCleaner 2.0 Beta 1, RegScrub and RegSeeker.

Jouni Vuorio the writer or jv16 PowerTools 1.4 didn't inform the public beta testers using RC1 and RC2 that the final release would be shareware. In other words he, by deceit had the programme beta tested complete with people eagerly sending in bug reports etc, then at the release of the final version said "OH by the way... "
This developer "shat in his own nest" by not informing his loyal followers of his final intentions till after they did all the free beta testing.

    Hello Paul,

    Another view http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=11542

I pesonally agree with the poster (Root) that the author is justified in asking for compensation, but 29.95 is too much, 10 to 15 range would have been reasonable.

As for Juoni's duplicity, that I'm sorry to hear about and can understand the anger.

RegScrub and RegSeeker: use both. Like having software cross check others.

    Regards - Charles

    I couldn't help myself Charles,
Had to add my view to the thread on that other forum.
As a long supporter of RegCleaner then later JvPowerTools I'm really annoyed at the attitude of the developer (or his advisers) not so much that the programme went to shareware as that's his right but the beta deceit and the quick removal of the forum from his Web site so people wouldn't flame him.
Anyway "there is plenty more fish in the sea" as far as Reg cleaners go. ;)
