 Hello again everyone- This is a good one with I hope a very simple answer. Can anyone answer why a machine running windows 98 2d edition would gain time on the system. It will gain even after re-set. The system belongs to my daughter and she is to far away for me to get my hands on it and she was afraid to try to ask for help. If you leave the thing sitting it will go to into a mode that looks like safe mode, but, without the safe mode at the corners, just large icons and text. I saw this while up there for a short visit but wasnt about to takle it for one night. When it does this you have to reset it from the surge protector, no cntrl/alt/del or power button. After the restart from this condition it goes into safe mode and the power button works, I should say it gives you the usuall option in dos for safe mode and starts its countdown. Even after you get it to go into normal operating mode, if you let it set for about 10 min the thing will go into what looks like the magnify mode on accessability. Already looked at that. It is a compaq machine. The video card is (I think) 5 meg. Could it be the battery or the video card? Thanks for any ideas
