    Hi

In Junk Mail Controls, you can set Moz Mail to not mark as junk any mail from contacts in an address book. I was wondering if anyone knew of a setting or a hack of some sort to force Moz Mail to look in all address books like there is a setting to force collection of incoming email addresses (the GUI only collects outgoing addresses)

    thanks

It was possible to have address books set to collect incoming e-mail addresses.
To me, it was a thoughtless ideas, as all spam addresses were being added.
I don't know of a way to have the program look at multiple AB. But, in general, it is easy to get around the problem with absent addresses in the AB of choice.
Mozilla1.7.11 seems to be overeager in dumping newsletters in the Junk folder, although it is easy to fix the problem, by adding the address to the Personal AB, removing the Junk designation, and drag and drop the message in the Inbox.

Thanks... You can still have the address book collect incoming addresses... I find it useful, but I understand your complaint.

I was hoping to find a way to avoid adding people to my personal address book. I keep several books to keep catergories of contacts separated (i also use mailing lists). Removing the Junk designation should help train the filter to avoid mislabeling, but it still happens.

    Anyway, thanks for the reply.

The only people I care for are outgoing mail. Generally, I reply, so they are in.
And, I also organize my addresses into a number of address books. Basically, I end up with two or even three entries of the same address, if I have them in an AB, as well as a mailing list. Initially, I used to move addresses, leaving me with no entry in the Personal AB. I have become less fanatical about organizing my addresses, as they can easily searched in the AB.
But, I understand that it would be nice to have a bit more flexibility.

You might give this a try:

    1. Create another address book for addresses currently in the Personal Address Book. Right-click, Select All, and drag the addresses to copy them into the new address book.

    2. Right-clik, Select all and drag address from any other existing address books to also copy them into the Personal Address Book.

That will make the Personal Address Book your "Master ", containing all addresses in your specific address books.

    3. Enable the junk mail control to not mark as junk any mail from contacts in your address book.

Your incoming mail should then be checked against all existing addresses and none of them should be marked as junk.

    Tools/ junk mail control

You can choose between the collected addresses and the personal address book.
    1. Choose personal address book and just move any from collected to personal which you want not marked.
    2. Edit / Preferences/ addressing
Choose add outgoing addresses to my address book'

oshwyn5: Thanks. I already knew that. Since I have multiple ABs I really dont want to duplicate addresses; my AB's have different catergories of contacts that I don't want to mix

BirdieBob: Thanks. As I just mentioned, I was trying to avoid duplicating addresses in different AB's but your suggestion to have one AB with all contacts to be used solely for the junk filter appears to be the only solution.

I wish the behavior of Moz Mail junk filter was changed to automatically search all ABs just as Moz Mail searches all AB's when completing addresses when composing mail.
