I installed the new Mozilla 1.7.3 today, uninstalling my 1.7.2 as I always do. I tried to reinstall jslib so my tagline extension would work but it refuses to install. The error is included. I use Win 98SE so this is the only profile I have.Any help would be appreciated.

jslib has failed to install globally on your system. Tis is most likely due to you not having the required system permissions to do so.
Would you like to install jslib in your Mozilla user directory instead?
That means that only the current profile will be able to use jslib.
If you wish to have a global install of jslib, you can cancel the install here and login as system administrator and retry the install from there.
When I try to install in my user directory it say "required file does not exist ".
    I am trying from: http://mozdev.sweetooth.org/jslib/xpi/
tried bot the lite and current.

I had more trouble with 1.7.3 than with anything else, although I uninstalled 1.7.2. I had the prefbar, autoscroll, home and one theme. none of them showed up. I was able to get the themes by using the theme installer add-on pointing to the .jar file. Even though they were present, I had to reinstall the autoscroll and the prefbar. The home extention would not work. It tried to open the default browser, and for some reason it was aiming for NS7.1.
I finally downloaded the home.xpi file, right clicked| open with Mozilla and it worked. For a minor update it sure gave me fits.
I had no problem installing the jslib, but I never had it before. So, I suggest that you try the same way I did with Home.xpi, which never gave me a problem before.

Thanks for the reply. I did uninstall the 1.7.3 and re-installed it and then did what you suggested and opened the xpi file with Mozilla, it installed right away and then I reinstalled my other extensions. My theme [walnut] was not lost in the conversion but my enigmail was but it showed it was still installed-had to re-install that to get it recognized. The weather was not lost but the calendar was and my preference bar and goggle bar were lost. Finally got them put back on but had a heck of a time getting on any Mozilla extension sited, must have been overloaded. Everything looks as it is working OK for now. Ha

Glad it worked. I never expected to have as many problems with what appears to have been minor fixes. But, this has been happening with each update since 1.7. I have been averaging two hours to figure out what was going on with each update. I never had this problem in any other case, having the extention in the profile.
