The following error occured attempting to join the domain "malaysia.gandour.com" The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see windows help" :(

First thing I would look at is your DNS settings. These are the usual cause of domain connection issues. Makes sure the server wasn't set to use a different DNS set up when it was moved to workgroup. DNS needs to point to DNS services on the AD of the new domain.

i did pointed to the correct dns. It did prompt me user id and password in order to join that particular domain. unfortunately, the error msg that i mentioned before popup. Also, thats the administrator user id and password.

    i tried several options too
    1. change computer name
    2. ipconfig /flushdns, /registerdns

i dunno its helpful or not, but it seem not working too x_x.

That says to me that DNS is not the problem: my first guess was wrong. If DNS is the problem, you don't get prompted for an administrator's credentials - instead the system just says it can't find the domain.

So for you to get this prompt means that your server is talking to the domain at a low level.

One thing that often helps when moving from one domain/AD to another is to be domain specific with your log ons. That is try entering you user name with the domain name specified. So if you want to log on to the domain "DOMAIN" try entering:

DOMAIN/Administrator (it might be DOMAIN\Administrator - I really should make a note of which one works).

    or

    Administrator@DOMAIN

If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. I suggest a trawl through the Microsoft knowledgebase.
