On a number of computers, including mine, the Javascript go2(xxx) fails to work. On other computers, it works fine. Other Javascripts work OK on my computer. I've tried changing security settings, updating Java to no avail. The fact that this script works on some computers but not all is mystifying. Any suggestions will be welcome.

    1. Nothing happens. No action whatsoever.

    2. javascript:GO2( "xxxx ") appears in the lower left of the infomation bar when hovering over the link.

Try going to this page and select any music genre to see if it works for you:

Works OK for me, I get the name of the genre where you show the ( "xxxx). When I click on the genre it goes there. I am using Sun Java not MS Java.

Works for me in IE. I have NO Java installed at all.
FYI, this has nothing to do with Java. The code used is Javascript. Java & Javascript are 2 separate different things and are similar ONLY in name.

The issue of the Javascript not working has to do with the browser settings on the computer, specifically the settings for Active Scripting, which is the browser support for scripting languages like Javascript, PHP, VBS, etc)

I forgot to mention that javascript:GO2( "xxx ") doesn't work when using Mozilla Firefox or the Netscape browsers either. The fact that this problem is not limited to MSIE may be a clue as to what's going on.

I also tried temporarily changing the security settings to lower levels on MSIE but it still doesn't work.

It is possible that your isp is using a proxy server and the page you are viewing is a page in the proxy's cache, with the missing .js file. That page includes .js files that get downloaded and stored, and the js files contains the javascript code. The cache could be corrupted.

or..an antivirus program could erroneously be blocking the required .js files.

I disabled my anti-virus, same problem. I will check another computer that uses RoadRunner, which is my ISP, to see if it works there.
