Another program installed Sun Java (without my knowledge) into IE, and apparently, did not install correctly. The files are showing as "Damged" under Tools; Internet Options; General tab; Temporary Internet Files; Settings; View Objects.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but the files still show as "damaged ". Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Judi

What files are shown as damaged? What exactly does the "damaged files" message say?

Those damaged objects in Downloaded Program Files seem to be always there with previous versions of Sun Java. They don't seem to affect its operation in any way.
You can just delete them and uninstall Sun Java (I always had better luck with the MS version--no buggy menus flickering or warped displays like with Sun's).
If you want Sun Java, go to their site and get the newest version. You will need to uninstall the older version in any case, since Sun has not mastered the concept of "updating" older software, and you will end up with 2 versions.

Glad to hear it, and thank you for posting back.
You may find that some sites actually require Sun Java. One site I go to not only requires it, but won't work with anything but an older version! So--I installed 2 versions of Sun Java and then disabled the plugins for Internet Explorer in Control Panel. That way, MS Java takes precedence, but I can still switch to Sun's as need be.
