I have two java scripts on a web page that worked under Netscape 4.76. The first script is a "no right clickâ€. The other is a "swirling cursorâ€. You can see these scripts at: http://www.geocities.com/odp_europe_uk/.
I installed SillyDog Netscape 7.0 Streamline; both java scripts no longer work. I have the "no right click" script by itself on another website, the script no longer works.
I tested Netscape 6.23 and 7.0 full versions also (not from sillydog), on three different computers, the java scripts don’t work. I have tried these on Windows2K and WindowsXP Pro. The Java and SSL are enabled with-in the browser. I enabled everything but the scripts still don’t work.

The scripts work fine under IE 5.5 and 6.0.

    Welcome to the Forum, jperez!

    Hi jperez,

Check out the script at this site, and see if it works for your No Right Click. If it works for Version 6.2, it should work for 7.0/01.

Now about that swirling cursor....

I'll keep checking around to see what I can find.

Thanks for responding. I see what you mean. The script works great. Thats strange it works in one browser but not the other. Iam still looking on the Internet for a possible answer. I hope someone beats me to it.

Netscape 6.x and 7.0/01 strictly adhere to the W3C Standards, and IE (is that a browser?) does not. Communicator always had problems rendering Java/JavaScript.

I see now, thanks to the site Ramona found, that scripts have to be tailored for specific browsers. This is from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/help.htm

No wonder I had so much fun making my Web site work in both IE and NS.

Actually I was PLEASANTLY pleased to see the clock on the Home page work in NS 7.01.

Also the Credits page is Java Script ( I think ) :)

Ramona was a great help in getting the site to work in NS in the first place. Especially the Audio.

    http://www.mozilla.org/docs/web-developer/upgrade_2.html
"Using Web Standards in Your Web Pages" gives specific examples of "proprietary" or "non-standard" web page features that are not supported in Mozilla or Netscape 6/7:
That explains why my clock script and jperez's "swirling cursor" didn't work in Mozilla or Netscape 7.

Not supported in Mozilla or Netscape 6/7

Well thats bad news. I guess I'll just have to post a POP-UP message to visitors that states:
"PLEASE USE INTERNET EXPLORER 5.5+ TO VIEW THIS SITE, SOME FEATURES ON THIS SITE DO NOT WORK WITH NETSCAPE 6.23 & ABOVE ".
Out of all the java scripts I use the two that do not function under NS7 are the most impotant ones. I do not write java and I use whats free on the internet. I ll have to write my web pages to run under IE.
The various Java sites do not have the type of scripts written to NS7 that I need. Very very little has been up dated. Acordingly, a lot of the scripts have not been updated for quite some time nor will they ever be updated.

To everyone who responded, Thank you.
