Only the latest is required - you can safely uninstall the remainder.

    Latest version is 1.6.0 build 1.6.0_3 b05

Now I am confused, I went to the Java download page and it veryfied my Java and returned this finding:-

    Verified Java Version

    Congratulations!

You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 3).
But as I wrote in the first post my Add/Remove Section says I have updates 1 through 11 ??

    Go Start>Run, type in:
    java -version
    Hit Enter.
    What version does it report?

    Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove
What Java versions are listed there?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Java Tab and check which version(s) are installed and "active ". With so many installed, I would recommend uninstalling them all (in Add/Remove Programs) in reverse order (most recently installed should be uninstalled first). When there is no more entries for Java in the Control Panel, restart the computer and install Windows Platform - Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 3.

In the future, remember to uninstall the previous version prior to installing the new version.

    Broni,
When I went >Start>Run>java -version>OK I got a screen pop up and disappear so quickly that I couldn't read it! So I went> Start>Run>cmd>OK and then entered java -version and I got this:

    Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\User>java -version
    java version "1.6.0_02 "
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_02-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_02-b06, mixed mode, sharing)

    C:\Documents and Settings\User>

Just in case anyone sees this and wonders,,,
    :)

    When I followed this instruction

I got only a Windows Explorer-type window containing three directories.

So I checked the Java entry in Control Panel, found I had two versions installed (5 and 6), and uninstalled 5 using Add/Remove programs.

    Just for the record.
