I have Java 6 update 31 on my Windows 7 Home premium netbook. Ever since I installed this version I get asked 'Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?', the program being Java.

How do I stop this question from being asked, without affecting being asked about other software? I know it's in the UAC settings but I don't want to affect being asked or not asked about other software.

If you are talking about the UAC, just say OK. You are really out of date on your Java also. It it now 7.4 and has been for a month or more. You need to get the latest version to be safe.

I updated it in February. I guess that is awhile ago. I have been saying yes, I just thought there might be a way to stop being asked.

There is a way, but I don't believe you can stop just one program. It is all or nothing. Read a couple of places that they have tried this and doesn't work right. HERE Leave well enough alone. Better to be safe than sorry. The UAC will pop up if something else tries to run that you haven't downloaded (or should).

Well I tried to update the Java by uninstalling old and installing new version but the Java isn't working now. I'm off to start another thread about this.
