Just downloaded and tried to install iTunes 8.2.1. It failed with Service "Ipod service" could not be installed. Verify you have sufficient privileges to install system services.

I am logged on as Administrator and previously successfully installed version 8.2.0 without a hitch. I tried installing in Safe mode but it wouldn't even start - error "The administrator has set policies to prevent this installation ".

Currently I have iTunes running but am unable to use iPod with it.

    (Windows XP2 SP2).

    Any suggestions very welcome.

    Solved.

    Fixed it. :)

For anyone else having problems :-

Disabled firewall (Online Armor) & Antivirus (Avira Personal) and then it installed successfully. Don't know which one caused the problem.

BTW You can't install in Safe Mode because you can't run Windows installer (I think).
