Less than two weeks ago, I started to see the above banner at the top of some - but not all - web sites visited with IE version 11.0.36/11.321. I've spent about a week and a half on the IE & Edge forum, trying to resolve this.

[My system is running Windows Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.447)]

It is a blue banner with a stylized finger to the left of a text/input field, and the word "Submit" to the right.

Just for fits and giggles I put nonsense characters in the field and clicked on Submit, and got "Invalid Credential. Please try again." Note that the capitalization is exactly as on screen. I'm trying to post a copy of that with this cry for help. I've attached that image. The original banner simply doesn't have the warning about invalid credential. there is nothing following the word "Submit. "

What I've discovered over the past week or so is that this banner shows up mainly on financial type sites, like Citibank Online, Wells Fargo, PayPal, and some others; maybe e-commerce sites, too.

Okay, so I recently turned 70 and yes, am marginally disabled, but not in the head. Meaning, I don't remember installing anything remotely resembling this and would love to know what it is. Maybe this is something new with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.351)? After all the time and posts on the other forum, I know it isn't as nobody seems to know what it is, and nobody has ever seen it before.

And I've used Revo Uninstall Pro to examine everything installed other than Microsoft or Norton/Symantec on my system. No joy.

Once again I ask: Does anybody have an idea of what this is and suggestions as to how to disable or remove it?

Hi there and Happy Sunday!

It's official - I'm an a$$ and dumb as a stone!

The mystery banner is the icon for HP's Simple Pass, a password storage and retrieval app, which apparently came with my system. What kicked it on, two weeks ago, is beyond my comprehension. Apparently, so much is beyond my comprehension that I am truly ashamed for wasting all your time as I've done.

I'd say it was a learning experience but the only thing I learned is to pay more attention to what I'm seeing.

When I went into Revo Uninstaller Pro today to remove LogMeIn - given the color scheme of the banner matches theirs - I saw the icon at the left of the banner, along with the name of the program! I've attached a screen shot from Revo in the IE forum. Now I need only try to remember what PW I used when I first set it up, 15 months ago when I bought this PC. If, that is, I actually did use it. Having Norton's Identity Safe for so long, I've never had the need for an alternative app.

I do apologize for causing you folks to try and assist me for so long, only to find the answer myself. It's actually a similar reason the Microsoft invited me to beta test, back in 1993, but the problem was a bit more real; this apparently was only a problem with my ability to observe what is in front of me.

I am truly embarrassed.
