Hola, folks. A weird problem: Tonight, when I turned on my computer, during the startup process it told me that there was not enough memory to run the program IDU1130.EXE, so I should quit a few applications and then try again. Problem is, there IS no IDU1130.EXE on my machine, and I searched through all my startup stuff AND my registry, and could find no mention of it. This same sort of thing has happened a couple other times recently, but it's not always the same file name it mentions.

I'm scared. Any help would be SOOO greatly appreciated I can't put it into adequate words.

Hi, I have no idea what this file could be, nor how it may have gotten on your computer, if indeed it is on there. I am not sure if the find files & folders feature finds "hidden" files or not, which are numerous in any Windows Operating System.

I suggest updating your virus definitions & running a scan. If this finds nothing, there is a program called Trojan Remover that looks for hidden Trojans & will get rid of them. You can download a 30 day evaluation copy from the below location. After 30 days it will shut down, but at least for 30 days you can check your putter for Trojans. :)
If Trojan Remover doesn't find anything then someone else who knows more than I do will have to suggest something. :D

WhitPhil and Deloris, thank you. I think I was just feeling overwhelmed...been having persistent startup/shutdown problems, just installed a new hard drive which has left me feeling generally down about what a POS my computer (Compaq Presario 5150) seems to be, was scared I'd both received and sent a virus a few days ago but wasn't sure because I couldn't find any mention of the *.exe file on Symantec's site...so after all that, it never occurred to me that this problem was possibly a virus. Duh, right?

I got the newest updates to Norton and ran a big scan through the whole system...found THIRTY-FIVE infected files. Quarantined, deleted, rebooted, blah blah blah. It seems to be ok now...but I will CERTAINLY resurrect this thread if things go wrong again. ;)

    Thanks again to you both!!!!

    Diane,

I am happy you got it fixed & also happy that you posted back to let us know. That was a lot of infected files. Sounds like more than one virus was working on your putter.

Those nasty virus's can sneak up on you if you don't keep those definitions updated regularly. :)

    Good Luck.

    Deloris.

If in fact you had a Backdoor Trojan, this could have allowed an outside intruder full access to your PC. Immediately change all passwords, everywhere.

As well, you should install a firewall. www.zonealarm.com

I found one reference to IDU (Intelli-Dial-Up) on the .NETSpeedBoost page. Could be associated with that.

Other possibility is a really sick puppy doing a virus. IDU is the standard medical abbreviation for "Infected Drug User" and the relationship between that and a virus is easy enough to see.

Either way, glad you got your system cleaned and certainly hope you took the advice about getting a firewall to add protection of a type that a normal AV program just can't do.
