Hello all, I have a Belkin Surf N150 modem router and up until yesterday was working absolutely fine but today for whatever reason it won't go into the orange standby mode when no devices are connected. The light is permanently on green which isn't an issue as it means it's working, but am wondering if anyone knows how to make it go back into standby mode when no devices are connected? No settings have been altered it's just happened overnight, I even unplugged the router, waited about 20seconds, plugged it back in again and it still just went straight to the green light with no internet devices turned on in the house.

Also, if it stays green will this harm the router in anyway?

Thanks in advance for any helpful tips, not very clued up on these things :)

The modem is always connected to the DSL or Cable no matter what unless you unplug the connection to it. It is there 7/24/365. Doesn't matter if something like a phone or computer is turned on and hooked up to it or not.

Thanks for the reply, was just a bit concerned as it previously went to a orange standby light when nothing was connected and it's now just staying green so was a bit worried.

It won't hurt anything if it's always ON (green). But check if anyone has wifi enabled on their smart phone, it will connect automatically and stay connected regardless of their using the phone or not.

Thanks TonyT, wasn't sure if it would harm anything or not but in that case I will just have to get used to seeing a green light more often :)
