Problems installing XPSP2 Home. It stops after copying files to folders for set up and always stops with 39 minutes left. I just got an error message the last time (I've reformatted many times; have used different installation disks, and even tried installing to my second drive, which I also did a full format before attempting a clean install.) Sorry, the error message: Isass.exe missing How can I replace this file?
    Thanks,
    Gil

gilhow - Welcome to the Board :)

As you have tried various installation disks and all have errored out at the same point I would suspect your optical drive. If you have 2 in the system try the other - if not check out a temporary replacement which is known to work to confirm if the problem is with the drive.

IMO - highly unlikely to be a virus as this occurs on starting a clean install on a reformatted drive.

So when is this error popping up, and what is the exact error?

lsass.exe (note "L" not "I" for lsass) is not something your machine will go anywhere without.
