    Dear experter,

I bought a 4port USB 2.0 hub (digitus). I found it is strange that Window XP can not recognize the device connected to the hub automaticlly and can only find device when I use 'Scan for hardware changes'.

I have no problem if I connect the device (External Hard disk) directly to the USB on the computer.

Is this normal? Is HUB defect or Something has to be set for Win XP?

    Thanks!

    Nihaojs

    Hi nihaojs,

One thing I wondered about was if your motherboard has 2.0 USB connections. If your motherboard does not support USB 2.0 you will need a USB 2.0 adapter PCI card.

nihaojs, my previous post was not very...mmm... "experter" :) . It would install a different set of USB controller drivers that would overcome the problem if you REALLY needed USB 2.0 and your motherboard only supported USB 1.

If your motherboard only supports USB 1 and you were happy to run it that way, the hub should be "backwards compatible" to run with a USB 1 motherboard.

    Some things you could check:
    Updated motherboard/chipset drivers.
See if there are newer drivers at the Digitus website.
Try removing/uninstalling the USB controller drivers in Device Manager.
