I recently learned about Uniblue Registry Cleaner which is Microsoft approved and a Microsoft Gold partner -- or something like that. But I have used other Registry cleaners and had to reformat after using them, so I have stopped using reg cleaners. But, supposedly, this one is good. Does anyone have any experience using this particular reg cleaner? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Markala. I would stay far away from any program that states it will clean your reigstry and optimize it. Uniblue Registry Cleaner is just like all of the other shady registry cleaners out there. They don't do any good to the system and you will NOT see any performance gain after using them.

You pretty much answered you own question:
That quote sums up why you shouldn't use them. It looks like you know what the consequences of using Registry Cleaners are but just because there is another one on the market that you haven't used doesn't mean that its safe and won't harm your system.

For more information on why a lot of Windows users don't use Registry Cleaners read this, Why I Don't Use Registry Cleaners and this, Are Registry Cleaners Safe to Use.

    Thank you

Nice to hear from you again Evan, and thanks for your input. There is no doubt in my mind that reg cleaners do a lot of harm, I was just hoping that since this one is partnered with Microsoft someone might have had a good experience with it. Take good care of yourself.

You mean Microsoft that came out with both Windows ME (still their worst OS ever) and Vista (which some would argue is about as bad as ME)?

Microsoft had a registry cleaner (or maybe still has, I don't know) with one of their security initiatives.

Still, I would only suggest a registry cleaner for people who know what they are doing & understand the registry entries they are removing. And that's not most people. These are sold to Joe Public who have no clue & only think it'll make their computer run faster.... which is hardly ever the case.

You too Markala. BTW I would also listen to what Arie has to say since he has a lot more computer experience than me and just because a Registry Cleaner is partnered with Microsoft doesn't make it any safer or more reliable to use.
    Take care! :)

Whether you use Uniblue's registry cleaner or another - they are overrated and can do great harm .

    Thank you.

Arie, thank you -- you made a very good point talking about Vista and ME. I actually laughed out loud. It's interesting that when I was running Vista my life was one big computer problem. Now that I am running Windows 7 I don't have the problems, so your comments are greatly appreciated. Take good care of yourself.
