I just set my computer up as a dual boot using Windows 98 and Windows XP. I used Partition Magic 7.0 to do this.

Here's my question, hopefully someone will know.

    Disk Partition Type Size Pri/Log

    1 *. Unallocated 7.8 Primary

    1 *. Extended 60.000.6 Primary

    1 *.WinXP NTFS 60.000.5 Logical

    1 C:Win98 FAT32 16.3.8.1 Primary

Is this the way it should look ? I have an 80GB hard drive and I was trying to make Win98 use 20GB's and XP to use the other 60GB.

Also one more thing. I can only see one hard drive in "My Computer" when I'm in Win98. I see both hard drives (both partitions) when I'm in WinXP, but the XP it shows the XP partition as being my "F" drive.
    Is this all ok ??

It all depends on how you have formatted your partitions...

If you have formatted the Windows XP partition with the NTFS filesystem it is correct that you won't be able to see that partition while in Windows 98, as this OS doesn't contain support for that file system. However, if both partitions are formatted with the FAT32 filesystem you should be able to see the XP partition as well when in Windows 98.

I don't think you can change the drive letter of the System partition in Windows XP, but if you want to try, you can right-click on "My Computer" and choose manage, then you go to the Disk Management snap-in and right-click on the drive you wish to reassign (F:) and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." there you can choose another drive letter.
However, if everything works the way it is, I wouldn't mess too much with, just leave it at F:.

    HTH

BTW. you might want to take a look at SysInternal's site, they have a freeware application which allows Windows 9x to read NTFS partitions. And at Winternals they have a commercial application allowing Windows 9x to read and write NTFS partitions.
