is this email attachment a virus?

    got email with attachment from this address (777@aol.com) Never heard of them before.

    Subject: Mail Delivery Failure.
    Attachment 1 is: Message.scr(39kb)
    Type:audio/x-wav

    What is this and is it safe to open?

    Rule of thumb- if you don't know who is sending the email, and there is an attachment, don't open it. Just delete the thing. Too many viruses out there to take a chance.

    .scr is (or should be) a screen saver. May be safe but may well be a baddie.

    *.scr is one of the many file extensions that we block at work as there are quite a few virii out there using the *.scr extension like the latest W32.Beagle.X@mm worm.

    I would do as MinnesotMike said and delete it.
