I currently have a small bakery networked and need to add to it. I shall try to lay it out for you.

    • the internet source comes into a switch at the back of the building
    • from the switch I have a cable going to a wireless router beside the switch
      • the router is used for customer wireless access in my cafe
    • another cable goes from the switch to the far side of the bakery where my office is and my main computer
    • one more cable goes from the switch to the front of the bakery where the credit card terminal is
I am adding a Point of Sale terminal (POS) and need to connect it to the internet. It will be located where the credit card terminal is at the front of the bakery. Running another cable from the switch at the back to the front again can be done but it is a difficult crawl up through the attic (which I did last time  and, I am not likely as fit as I was back then) so my question is...

Can I split the cable that currently goes to my credit card terminal by way of another switch at the front of the building and connect the credit card terminal and the new POS computer to the new switch and thereby the network or must I run another cable?

I figure that the cost of the switch would be less than the amount of cable I would need and save me from having to wriggle my way through the attic again. :)

    Thanks
