    Hey guys,

Is there a difference between the Zone Alarm for Windows 98 & the Zone Alarm for WinME? I noticed that there are download links specific to each OS.

    Thanks for any input.

Deloris--Funny, I did not see any different downloads for Free ZoneAlarm for WIN98 vs. WINME.
    http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/zap_za_grid.jsp
But if you did, I guess you should choose the appropriate one for your OS.
Or were you at download for ZA ProPlus or Pest Patrol?
P.S/ An earlier ZA page says (for ZAPro, but you would not think it would be different for other WIN versions, except perhaps for XP) "Compatible with Microsoft® Windows® 98/Me/NT/2000 and XP. "

    Welshjim,

I wasn't on the Zone Labs web site when I saw that. If I remember right, I was at the ZDNet site. Either that one, or Tucows. Can't remember which one for sure. I just wondered about it, because as far as I could see, the times I did go to the ZA site, they didn't seem to specify certain ones for particular OS's, so why would the others?

I am sorry I didn't add that little tid bit into my original question.

It might just have been that the other sites had separate mirror sites for the specific OS's that people have. For what reason they would do that, I wouldn't have a clue. :) They also offered only the pro version for 2.6. No free 2.6 was available on them that I could find.

I didn't think there should be a difference for the different OS's, but that got me to wondering about it.

Thanks for your reply. I will assume that there is not a difference & can safely reccommend the 2.6 Free download for someone with a different OS than mine, if I can find a free 2.6 download available anywhere anymore. 3.0 didn't seem to have a free download anywhere. I guess it was there somewhere on ZA's site & I just didn't see it, because the link you posted took me right to it. I called myself looking hard for it too. :)

Guess I am more blind than I thought. :D

I tried the 3.0 pro once & did not like it at all, so I hesitate to reccommend even the free 3.0 to anyone.

I have another topic question in mind that I am going to post in Hardware that might be of interest, so be looking for it. :D

    Thanks again for your help.

Deloris--I was not aware there was a Free ZA version 3.0 yet. It thought the free version was still 2.6. Did you download a free v3.0?

No I didn't, but I assumed the download on the left on the page you posted the link to, was for a v3.0, even though it didn't say it was a v3.0. I didn't even initiate a download for it to see if it was a v3.0 download.

BTW, I did finally find a free 2.6.362 & got it for a friend of mine. Now I need to get the same version in the pro, because it is a later version than mine.
