I want to reuse a 32M ram chip which could have been either edo or sdram on a mobo that only takes sdram. Can't find the info on the manufacturer's website.

What's the easiest way to find out? Can I just try it and see if it works? Is there a way to tell by looking at the chip? Is there a listing somewhere on the web by part#?

    Thanks,

    ram & edo

Usually EDO is on 72 pin simm @ 60ns & SDRAM will be much longer chip w/pc100 or 133 meghrtz @ 6-10ns. Some sdram was/is pc/66 specific tho. Most old edo stuff also ran on 5v new stuff runs on 3.3. I'm sure a memory wizzkid will be by shortly to confuse you even more:D

    Hi Rancher,

Turns out I can get a 32M SDRAM compatible for the Dell Dim box that's being upgraded for like $25 delivered from a website so am just leaving it at that. From what you said though sounds like my old chip would've worked too.
