"...is not a valid win32 application."

Hi All!

I know this may seem like a familiar situation, but I searched through all your previous posts and none of the remedies seem to help me! I JUST formatted my PC today and re-installed Windows XP Professional. After that I went about installing the drivers needed for my internet/motherboard. I'm running an ASUS Motherboard P5GD2 Deluxe: Wireless Edition. It has Intel 915P, with Intel LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU/Dual DDR2-533/PCI Express Graphics. My problem arose when i downloaded some drivers from the ASUS site (audio drivers), and attempted to install them. I extracted the files out of the folder and double clicked on the setup file and i got the error that is mentioned in the title. How do i know if I'm running a x32 or x64 windows xp? Is there someway to fix this problem? I dont have SP2 on the computer yet, would that help fix the problem? The asus site doesnt offer x32 downloads.

In this place The one you need looks like the first one listed. Version V5.12.01.0008.51.61 34.77 MBytes.

Is that the one you tried?

Click the windows key + pause/break and the first page General Tab should tell you what windows version you have installed.

Bmoore1129, thanks for the reply to my message. No that was not the one that I tried. I am currently downloading that file as we speak, but it's downloading at a rather slow rate. I have the same hardware as before and my transfer rates used to be over 50kb/s on downloads, now they hardly get over 5kb/s!

As for checking my windows xp version, i did and it said 2002. What does that mean? x32 or x64? I also finished installing xp sp2, i havent restarted the comp yet to let the effects take place, but would this make a difference in letting me run those applications that i couldn't before?

You can have the fastest of the fast systems but when you download files you are going thru many connections any one of which can slow you to a crawl.

I think you should restart and let SP2 finish cleaning up after itself, then go back to downloading. Who knows, you may even get a faster connection. That is if you are on broadband of some kind like DSL, Cable or Satellite.

Yes, on my desktop computer I am receiving broadband internet access through an ASUS Satellite that connects directly onto my motherboard. I'm pretty sure it'll speed up once I load the more current drivers for the wireless internet connection.
