I have been having problems reading a DVD disc in this drive for quite a while now. The drive is in a Toshiba Satellite A25-S207 laptop computer. The drive is a TEAC-DW-224E-A. It reads and burn CD perfectly good but it will not read my DVDs I tried different ones and no go. I put them in another computer just to be sure the DVDs are good and they read and work well. I go to device manager and everything is good there, even in properties it said device is working. I put the DVD in the drive the light blinks for a while then stop, I go to my computer and check the drive icon and the disc does not show up in the drive icon. It does when I insert a CD but not a DVD.
Do I have corrupted drivers loaded or something I am completely puzzled on this one. Don't know what else to try or do. Can someone help?
    Sorry for the rambling.

Try a CD cleaner first. if it works good otherwise you would have to replace the drive.

FYI - CD/DVD drives use 2 lasers, one for CD's and the other for DVD's. It rather looks like the DVD side has failed :(
