I've just loaded up Windows 7 and I can only seem to put 4 shortcuts in the task bar on the left of the screen next to the start menu.

I prefer having all my icons for mail and malware programs, etc. on a quick launch toolbar, rather than having to open up the start menu every time I want to open a program.

At the moment I can only put IE and Microsoft Word in the task bar. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

    Thank you,

    bellisimo

Why not open the programs that you want pin them to the task bar then drag the icons to the left side of the task bar.

Create a new folder and put your shortcuts in it. Right-click the Taskbar, select Toolbars > New Toolbar..., browse to and then click on your new folder. To add or remove shortcuts, simply add or delete them in your new folder.

    Hi lj,

Thank you. That helps a lot. I'll still try the New Toolbar approach as well.

    Thank you, SpywareDr,

I tried a similar approach that didn't work. Now I'll see if yours will work for me.

    I appreciate the advice.

So are you able to create the quick launch toolbar using the link that I posted? Are you having any difficulties following a certain step?

When I do this, I use a one letter folder name so that it doesn't take up too much real estate. The $ is my favorite folder name.

    Hi Evan,

Yes, I was able to do it, but I've discovered that lj's suggestion above was all I really needed.

    Thanks for your input,

    bellisimo

I'm going to mark this thread resolved now. the suggestion that lj provided me was exactly the solution I was looking for. It makes my taskbar work like a quick launch bar.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all of your suggestions.
