Godaddy, is a registrar. They record urls with the ICANN and sell them
What you are describing sounds like you have mistyped a URL and gone to one no one has registered; but godaddy bought the rights to so that it redirects to them .Many search engines and domain registries do this, taking close variants to sites which lots of folks visit and registering them and squatting there hoping to sell them. Still others (spyware companies) often do this and put trojan installers there. My advice is to be very careful what you type and to use links and bookmarks or search engines more often.
