We just got our new Vista - Home Premium computer this week.

    It is working great.

Now, in Windows to date (Thru XP) the most useful program ever has
been the Windows Explorer. You had to dig it out on each version - 98, Me
2000, and XP and place it on your desktop.

    Question:
Does Vista have a program that will perform the same functions as Windows Explorer (especially the drag and drop)?

    Thanks

Vista has pretty much the same as XP. MS, bless their hearts(??) have decided to move everything around. Go to the start menu/All programs, and you will find Windows explorer sitting , I believe, under accessories. (I moved mine so I am guessing there) A right click and drag to the desktop, as in XP, still works. I choose copy rather than create a shortcut, as it cuts out one operation.
On the subject, you may or may not know that if you right click the desktop shortcut and select properties, you can manually add some options. At the top, leave a space after explorer.exe and type e, /n, /C:\ (C: is where my Vista sits) This will open explorer in your default Vista partition with the full view.

Click the Start button once, type "windows explorer" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

And for another method :) :

    1. Right click on the desktop and select "Personalize "
    2. Select "Change desktop icons" (top left)
    3. Enter a tick against the desktop icons for "Computer" or "User's Files "
    4. Click on OK

That will put a computer or a user icon on the desktop. Double clicking on that icon will open explorer at the computer or user's folder respectively.
