I really messed up my iriver IFP-i190TC MP3 player. I wiped up the firmware that I had and now I get the message "can not connect" everytime I plug in the usb cable.
I have un-installed and re-installed the software. i have formated the drive.. tried to upload firmware using the "send to" option in my computer" " by right clicking the detach G drive. Nothing works. I really need help.
    Thanks

Sorry, no solution to your player issue. My suspicions lie in the player program installed on your computer. USB/computer see player, player program on computer does not see player. Could try this "work-around" until you can figure it out.

If you click/open drive G, does it allow you to drag files onto the player?? With 7 kids in the house plus spares we/I do a fair amount of mp3 uploads to players ... this is our preferred approach, it's just faster (including Zune / 30GB drive). I have not connected to a iRiver, but it may be "picky" like the iPod group. I have always had to use iTunes. Drop and drag caused one of them to crash hard (Nano). The drop and drag approach does NOT provide playlist creation.

Actually, I have solved the problem. After searching for a solution for 90 mins, I found it on the iriver site. I guess I wasnt asking the question the right way in their automated "ask alice" help option. I ended up cutting and pasting the firmware into the root area of the device. Then I had to go into the device itself and navigate to an area that said "update firmware" Who knew?? Once I did that, my computer picked up the new device, loaded the driver and voila.. it works. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciated them.
