IRC Problem ?

Passing this along for lack of (my) knowledge about IRC.

My brother (an avid IRC chap) and others, are having a problem with an individual
on a yahoo IRC chat room.

This individual has found a way to knock others off the IRC (by flooding their PM box
with messages, it hangs up the system in question forcing that user to reboot).
Apparently, he/she can do this, at will, to whoever he/she wants to and does it
quite often. The Admin at yahoo is either ignoring the problem or is not monitoring
the IRC room at all.

My brother ask me for help in stopping this problem. I had no answers for him,
again, i'm a dummy about IRC's.

So, the question is: Is there a way to stop this person from doing this (I think not)?

Have they reported the problem to Yahoo? If not, several users of the chat room should fill out the Yahoo Chat Abuse Report form and send it.

Have they tried putting the abusive chatter on Ignore? Not sure if that blocks PMs, too, but it's worth a shot.
