When ever I try to search on P2P program's I get no results and the downloads I had going that were in the Queue folder will find no matches. I am using DC++, I have tryed re-installing and trying on a similar P2P program and that one did not work also. And, if this is even related, which I beleive it is, I can't "direct connect" on AIM anymore. The P2P program do work however when I switch to passive mode, just does not work on active mode. And I have the right IP in and a port thats unused.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Also, I talked with a few friends and they all told me it sounded like an IP problem and they told me to contact my ISP. But, my ISP will not help.

Not surprising that your ISP wouldn't help with a P2P problem. :( Doesn't really sound like an IP problem to me. If that were the case, you would probably have problems getting any type of internet connection. But lets do a couple things anyway. Go to start>run and type cmd, hit enter. Type or copy/paste the following commands, hitting enter after each one.

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt
    exit

Open Local Disk C: and locate the text file ipconfig.txt. Open it with notepad, press Ctrl+A to select all, copy and paste the results here.

Are you using the default installation settings for the programs, or trying to configure connection settings? Did this problem just start? Did AIM work before? When did it quit working? Anything else strange going on?

I may be way off here, and you'll probably want to wait and see if Newt or someone can verify, but I think part of the problem may be the physical address shown below.
If correct, I think you would need to go to device manager and remove this, then reboot.

BTW, could you please respond to my questions in first post? :)

I'm not positive that is causing the issue but as Dave said, it certainly could be. In any event, it is an IP version 6 thing and all your work at this point (including network and internet) will be IP version 4.

right-click My Network Places and left-click properties
right-click Local Area Connection and left click properties.

You will see the tunneling adapter listed or maybe IPV6 or TCP/IP version 6 or similar. Remove any/all.

If that doesn't clear things up post back.

Howdy, do you think you could help me though this and see. I went to Device Manager, but I don't know what to do from there.

Yeah, that's it. Remove it and reboot. Then run another ipconfig /all > C:|ipconfig.txt Overwrite the first one. Paste it here.

    And, I'll ask again,

Nothing wrong with your IP. Are you using a firewall? Did AIM stop working upon installation of this P2P program? Have you checked with their support forum?

Nope, not using a firewall, but I am going through a router. AIM, I noticed it wasent working a few days after P2P messed up. I had DC++ working for along time. Then one day it just stoped working.

I also think it might be a router problem or something. But I have not changed any settings and DC++ just stoped working.

I went in their support forum a few times and looked around but never posted.

And, a few other programs I tried when DC++ stoped working and they did not work eather.

Well, I can tell you what I would do were it my machine. May not help, but certainly won't hurt. Some of this junk does weird things to a system and removing it will often be the fix. Start by downloading Spybot and Ad-aware from the links in my signature. Install, open and immediately update both. Run Spybot and fix everything found that is prechecked. Configure Ad-aware for a full scan and select everything it finds, then fix. **You can right click any entry then select all from the menu. Reboot. Run complete system scans with RAV and Housecall.

Still not working? Download and install RegSeeker. Open and click 'clean registry'. When complete, make sure the backup box is checked (lower left corner), select all and delete. **You may need to have the window maximized to see the select all button. Delete by right clicking in the window. Run again, and again until nothing is found. Reboot and check all your programs functionality. I've never had RegSeeker harm anything on my system, using it the same way, but one never knows. If something isn't working properly that was, reinstall the backups. Next, uninstall DC++ and any plugins that may have been installed with it. Not sure what that might be, but if you see a program called P2P Networking, that would be one of them. It needs to come out regardless, IMO. If not sure, let me know. I can install it and let you know what, if anything, comes with it. After uninstalling, again run RegSeeker until clean. AIM work now? If not, uninstall it, as well as Viewpoint Media Player (another one you're better off without) and run RegSeeker until clean. Reboot and reinstall AIM. Then DC++, or one of the other alternatives.

You should not have to do anything with your router, open ports, etc. It should, with default settings, allow data to pass through which has been requested by your PC.

    Good Luck! :)
