    Hi again
So I understand I have 2 computers with the same IP address. Can I change these? Or do I need to get my server to give one.

You're server will only provide IP addresses if it's running DHCP. So we can better understand your situation why don't you give us a little info on your setup.

    Internet connection

My setup is this...Main computer running win98se 2nd computer running win2000pro 3rd computer running xphome edition. We have a motorola cable modem,Belkin router 4 switch,The 98 and Xp pcs both have Belkin10/100BT ethernet cards,The win2000 has its own built in Nic its an IBM pc with an Intel Pro 100VE desktop connetion. Everything worked good until we added the xp computer ,The 2000 the said it was having a conflict with another pc .That was the last time it was online. So now we get a dns error when we try to connect the 2000 to the internet .I understand that two of the computers could have the same ip address .

If the router is running DHCP and assigning addresses, then go to each PC and release/renew the IP address it has.

9X start~run~winipcfg and press the buttons.

NT start~run~cmd then ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew (normally both aren't needed but with a conflict, get a fresh start).
