Need help for a friend who has an Iomega 33748 1 TB Double USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive. His email to me is as follows:

"One of my external hard drives has mysteriously become a read-only drive. I can read and copy from it but cannot add to it. I cannot add files, documents, photos, new folders, etc. How do I get it to return to its original status? "

You need to tell us what version of Windows is being used. Here is what it says for Vista
If it relates to a folder or the whole drive the changes will need to be made there.

If some software (Iomega) has been installed, it could be malfunctioning. Read the information for the software or look up FAQs or troubleshooting at the Iomega website.

I avoid software for external drives, if they have security (encryption for example) you can get locked out of your own data.
