    Hi,

I am trying to install a Dlink DFE 650 PCMCIA card into my Dell Inspiron 7000 running NT 4 SP 6

All goes well ,I can see it in the PCMCIS control panel,If i do an IPCONFIG/ALL there it is all looks fine Mac address and all. Then I plug in to the network.

I get a link light but all three lights stay on.
    link,10/100 and Half/full
Lo and behold I can't get an IP from the DHCP server.

Looked at the dlink site no mention of this prob there. So I tried a second dlink card, exact same model, same prob.

Ran a dlink diag utility, says I have an IO port conflict, how do i know which io ports are in use and which I can use?
the dlink setup gives me a choice from :

0x200 all the way to 0x380.They go up in increments of 20.
I've tried a few but I always get the same problem.

Please help,I'm sure its real easy but its a bit of knowlege I have missed like many others.

    Cheers

Have you checked your event logs? An event will be generated by the I/O conflict and it may contain the information you need. Been a while since I looked at this particular thing and my memory is a little hazy.

Otherwise, Start~Programs~Administrative Tools (Common)~Windows NT Diagnostics should show you the information you need.
