    Hi All

I have a Word2000 document with lots of links in it - both to bookmarks and other documents - and whenever I click on one of the links the web toolbar pops up, which takes up extra space on the screen.

I've tried putting the web bar permanently in amongst the existing toolbars, but it pops out to a line of its own anyway.

Is there any way to get rid of this annoying "feature "?

    Thanks for your help.

    John.

    Show or hide a toolbar
Right-click any toolbar, and then click the toolbar you want to show or hide on the shortcut menu.
If you don't see the toolbar you want or in this case see a toolbar you don't want, click Customize, click the Toolbars tab, and then click the toolbar you want/don't_want in the Toolbars list.

Alternative may be menubar>view>toolbars>uncheck the ones you donot desire.

Tip To quickly hide a floating toolbar, click the Close button on that toolbar.

    Thanks for your response, Ann.

I've found that the web toolbar is very insistent on appearing, even though I uncheck it each time.

However, all is not lost. I had played around quite a bit with the toolbar (moving and removing buttons to try and get what I wanted), so I decided to reset it and start again. Now I find that the toolbar in its original form will stay sandwiched between the other toolbars (i.e. won't demand a line by itself).

So that's progress. I'd sooner not have it there at all, but I can live with it squashed (sort of) out of the way.

    Cheers

    John

Found this downloadable tweak and thought you might be interested. Scroll to topic "Disable ato-matic popup of web toolbar ":
    http://www13.addr.com/~kenyonck/word/download/

Just remember to backup the hkey mentioned by exporting to a safe place or know how to restore reg in case this has an undesirable effect.

    Hi Ann

Sorry for the delayed response. I couldn't get the macro to work and it was a while before I was able to put aside some time to investigate.

The good news is that it does work with a little preparation.

Firstly, in order to see the paths in the document template, you have to open it as a template (right-click, open) rather than as a document based on the template.

The second thing is that nothing whatever will happen unless you have VB run-times installed on your machine. I don't know what the minimum release is, but it worked okay with the one I got here: http://www.karenware.com/progs/vbrun60-setup.exe
(Note that this link directly prompts a download)

So thanks very much for the information. I'm now very happily jumping back and forth between hyperlinked documents without unwanted toolbars in my face.

    Cheers

    John.
