Born London 1942, educated at Rutlish School where, FWIW, ex British Prime Minister John Major was also a pupil, although 'below' me :). Graduated 1964 in Engineering Metallurgy from Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London University and worked in the copper industry for 36 years before retiring on the last day of the last Millennium at 57 - great :D Been resident in South Staffordshire for the last 30+ years.

First computer was an IBM back in 1992 -10" screen, 20 Mb hard drive, 1 Mb of RAM (I think, may have been less), Windows 3 + DOS. Took a while to master it (understatement :)) Acquired a PC at work to help with my design work - AutoCad and the interest in computing took off. Currently build all my own PC's and maintain those of numerous friends - never knew I had so many :)

Joined WindowsBBS in 2002 - was it really only 6 years ago? and was appointed Moderator in 2003 and never looked back. In 2004 Microsoft awarded me Most Valuable Professional in Internet Explorer (MVP) and I have been fortunate to have been given the award each year to date.

I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to problems - probably the result of 30+ years in R&D and Development, and get a real kick out of helping others out of a hole - often one they have dug for themselves :) I have always held the belief that if you have enjoyed a particular pastime you should put something back in - that's another reason why I am on the BBS.

My other hobby is photography in which I have achieved the highest honours, Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, Associate of the Photographic Society of America (service award), etc. My particular interest is in monochrome landscape photography both in the UK and in the South western United States - just love those 'scenics' :) In line with the comment above re. putting something back in I judge at club, National and International level, lecture to clubs all over the country and give demos on various aspects of Photoshop, on which I have co-authored a couple of eBooks.

If you're still with me Hi to all members both new and old - we will do our utmost to help you :)
