If you're paying for and getting 256kbps you'll need to contact your ISP and get a fa$ter plan.

    Try This:

Go to http://enhanceie.com/ie/tweaks.asp Once you get there scroll down to speed tweaks and click Increase the connection limit. Download it and when it asks you if you want to add this information to the registry then click yes. After thats done restart Intnet Explorer to see the effect. Also try deleting all of your Temporary Internet Files. Let me know if IE is faster. :)

    Suggestions :)

Run a speed check on your connection . I live in Australia, I have a 256kps connection. I ran a speed check on a US website, I got 217kps. I ran a check at an Australian website, I got 276kps. [Do a websearch for something like "internet connection speed test" and find a website in your country].

Check your connections (cables) and hardware, like drivers for your modem.

A filter between you and the rest of the world (internet-wise) is the Firewall. Check your firewall...Windows supplies one, an Internet Security Suite may supply another, if you use a Router it may have it's own in-built Firewall (NAT). You should use one Firewall. Is something slowing the connection by "checking" it?
